Welcome to our Art Blog. At least once a Sign-Up, I will post our art news from the Stage III art studio. We began this year with a collaborative art experience during our Visitation classes. We shared large pieces of tagboard, building compositions using many choices of media. Stage III artists were encouraged to study the compositions in progress, thoughtfully deciding where the pieces needed to "go" next. The use of the elements of art were discussed as we added color, used space and created balance in our collaborative compositions. It also gave us an opportunity to build community in the art studio.
The Intersection of Art and Science:
Our day at the farm could not have been more beautiful! Thanks to the many parents who participated in our art workshops - it was wonderful to watch you share the the outdoor studio with your children! One of the most exciting aspects of teaching art is sharing the sense of wonder children bring to the process. This was particularly evident in the prairie; as the children thoughtfully observed pods, seeds, leaves and more, they shared their discoveries. As the children drew, they constructed a deeper knowledge of plants and developed their "artists' eyes". Looking at the sketchbooks, I am struck by all the sensitively rendered drawings.
